Season 12 – Round 0 Recap
What a fantastic start to the season for those who made it to round 0! A huge well done to everyone who raced—especially to our new members Liam Taylor and Cody Harford. We're thrilled to have you on board! And a special shoutout to Jayne Barclay for completing her very first races—now behind the wheel rather than the paperwork. An awesome job, Jayne—if your lap times keep coming down at this rate, you’ll be breaking out in about 3 more races... 🏆 16 cars lined up on a dry track at Levels, and as usual we followed the standard format with a scratch race (Alex on pole with a 1:17.035 quali time!), followed by the marble draw and reverse marble draw races. Throughout the day there were several drivers going under the breakout even though we’re now on the “slower” Nankang tyres... no doubt helped by the cold air, but by all accounts everyone is adjusting and pretty happy with the new tyre. (PS: Don’t turn up to round 1 with Dunlops BTW—the tyre you need is the Nankang NS2R Hard Compound.)
As for results, being Round 0, we weren’t scoring, but for the record, our overall, non-adjusted race winners were:
- Alex Sprague—followed by Greg Barclay and Gav Thompson
- Alex Sprague—followed by Gav Thompson and Greg Mitchell
- Jonathan Prince—followed by Greg Barclay and Alex Sprague
Congrats to you all on some close racing, and especially Alex, who was on fire 🔥, and a special congrats to JP on his first race win—very well earned! The weather stayed clear (but absolutely freezing!) with just a touch of rain in the afternoon. Despite the chill, it was such a pleasure to meet everyone. My boys had a fantastic time watching the action and being part of the day. Thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome. And thanks to SCCC on a very well run event as usual! Bring on Round 1!
